Claudia Barghash, MD, attended the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon, on a full scholarship and was awarded her medical degree in 1997. She served her residency training specializing in internal medicine at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, New York, where she was chief resident with teaching responsibilities, leading and supervising clinical rounds in the Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Barghash is fellowship trained in gastroenterology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She received board certification in internal medicine and the subspecialty of gastroenterology from the American Board of Internal Medicine and remains at the forefront of her challenging specialty via memberships and affiliations with prestigious professional societies and associations, such as the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Gastroenterological Association.
